Peer support
Cocaine Anonymous & Crystal Meth Anonymous, explained straight.
Who we are not — read this first. Stimulant Recovery is independent. We are not Cocaine Anonymous, not Crystal Meth Anonymous, not Narcotics Anonymous, not SMART Recovery, and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking for any of them. What follows is our own plain-language description of what these fellowships are, so you can decide whether to walk into a room. Their programs, texts, and traditions live on their own websites — that's where we link, and the only place you should read them. Meetings are peer support, not medical care, detox, or therapy.
Quitting the drug can feel like quitting your entire social life — the dealer is in your phone, the friends are the Friday crew. That, more than craving, is what pulls people back. A fellowship is mostly a pre-built social graph that doesn't use. Here's the map, in plain language.
All mind-altering substances
Cocaine Anonymous (CA)
A free peer fellowship of people recovering from addiction, run entirely by its members. Despite the name, CA's stated scope covers all mind-altering substances — you qualify if you want to stop using, whether your thing was powder, crack, meth, pills, or all of the above. Nobody checks a substance at the door. Meetings run across Canada, in person and online; no fees, no sign-up, no referral needed.
If it's meth
Crystal Meth Anonymous (CMA)
A free peer fellowship for people whose problem is — or includes — crystal meth. The value is specificity: rooms where a five-day run, the sleep debt, the paranoia, and the scene around meth need no explaining. Meetings exist in Canadian cities and heavily online, which matters when local options are thin. Show up as you are — including mid-crash, including still using.
Densest coverage in Canada
Narcotics Anonymous (NA)
NA welcomes all substances and has the densest meeting coverage in Canada — in smaller towns it may be the only room in driving distance. Many people mix: NA for frequency, CA or CMA for specificity. The official site is the only current source for meeting times.
Secular & science-based
SMART Recovery
Not a 12-step person? SMART runs free, science-based meetings across Canada — in person and online — built on tools rather than steps. Many people blend it with CA or CMA rather than choosing one. The right room is the one you'll actually walk into.
Your first meeting: what actually happens
- You walk in (or click in), sit down, and can say nothing at all. Listening is full participation.
- Someone will tell a version of your story — the Thursday promise, the payday text — before you've said a word.
- First names only. Nobody records attendance, checks ID, or reports to anyone.
- If the first room isn't your room, try a second. Meetings differ more than the name suggests.
- Still using? Come anyway. Wanting to stop is the only requirement either fellowship names.
Meeting times change. We never republish schedules — the official finders are the only source worth trusting.
What these fellowships are not
- Not medical care, detox, or therapy — nobody there can treat psychosis, heart symptoms, or depression.
- Not a treatment centre, and barred by their own traditions from recommending one.
- Not religious organizations — meetings vary; secular members attend everywhere.
- Not a paid service — there are no fees, and anyone charging you for "access" is a scam.
- Not affiliated with this website. We describe; they operate.
When a meeting isn't enough.
Rooms are powerful and free — and they are not treatment. If runs are getting longer despite meetings, if you can't get through the crash without using, if paranoia or depression is deepening, or if home is where the dealer is: that's the line where structured treatment earns its cost. Nobody inside a fellowship is allowed to tell you this. We are — and we can make that introduction.
